You’re ready to dig into your supplemental essays and notice that the word limit is 100. What do you do? What can you say in just 100 words? A lot, as it turns out. Try not to be daunted by essays that limit you to just a paragraph or two. Start by writing out your ideas without regard to word count. Just write. Once you’ve developed your ideas, start cutting. You’ll be amazed how many “excess” words and phrases you’ll find. Experiment with combining sentences that naturally flow together. If you are still having trouble getting your word count down, it may be that you have one too many concepts within the short essay. If that’s the case, consider eliminating one concept entirely. Of course, College Essays that Work by Upper Hand Writing is available to help you perfect even the most succinct essays!
